Winter Journal VII

Well, I wasn't sure I'd make it even this far... but I'm still happily spending my December playing in my 8x8 kraft journal, and allowing what arrives on the page to arrive, even if (as seems to be happening) it takes me to a more romantic place than Words and Pictures is accustomed to.  And we're not just in a loving frame of mind for today's page... we've even got as far as a wedding!

It wasn't a conscious choice.  I had my background on the go, and I was trying out various Paper Dolls against it to see which one(s) wanted to come out to play, and it was these two.

So it's definitely a white wedding.  A heavy fall of brayered snow covers most of the kraft page, along with some handwritten script white washi tape scraps.

There are some textured stars hovering subtly in the background too.

I'm working hard not to be too perfect with any of the stencilling, so you get a rough and ready, artsy look.

Another paper scrap finds a home as the doorway for the couple to stand in front of, for their first photo as a married couple.

And I'm sure that, as well as photos, there will be somebody there taking cine film, hence the film strip.  (Excellent, a real reason for it to be there this time!)

More snow is falling in the shape of the Tim Holtz Thinlits dies, but it can't dampen the bride's enthusiasm or dim her smile.

I'm not quite sure about the expression on his face though.  As I mentioned in the previous lovey-dovey post, my take on romance is rarely all happiness all the time, so maybe it's just me that sees trouble ahead in that rather fixed gaze.

But I do think there's good advice and a strong element of truth in the words here.

I can't be sure, but I hope the road ahead for this couple will be wonderful.

Well, now that the wedding's done, maybe I've scratched the sentimental itch as far as this winter journal is concerned... or maybe there'll be more romance to come in future pages.  At the moment, I'm open to whatever comes when I grab my hour at the craft table.  And I can certainly promise you some brighter colours on the next one!

Thanks so much for stopping by, especially when I know how busy everyone is at this time of year.  I'm very happy you're enjoying these little journalling excursions as much as I am.  I think it's nice to take a break from Christmassing now and then.

Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.

I'd like to play along again at Art Journal Journey for Bleubeard and Elizabeth's themes of My Favourite Season/Tis the Season
At the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge they are looking for some Warm Winter Wishes
And with the white wedding as well as the snow, I have to join in with Anything Goes with an Optional Twist of White over at More Mixed Media
I'd also like to share this page at the Simply Neutrals party over at Apple Apricot

Oh Alison i've missed so many of these Kraft journal pages. Those smears and splodges of white paint and inky additions turning those raised areas into a heavenly toasty marshmallow delight. Those full snowflakes and snippets really do give that wintery feeling. This will be a wonder to flick back at, i'd be so please to have had the time to play and create a journal like this.
Thank you for sharing them with us all.
Hugs Tracey xx

Love this Alison, it immediately took me back to 2 weeks ago and Maddie’s wedding. We didn’t have snow but we did have rain and she loves her stars. The beautiful neutral tones and artsy feel also reflected on our rustic focus. Thanks for sharing and taking me back there. Xxx

I'm incredibly impressed with this, Alison. I like the white of this entry on the kraft paper. I'm color driven, and this is beautiful. Of note is the "base" of perfectly torn washi tape the couple is standing on. Why didn't I ever think to tear the same TH washi tape and turn into a base or foothold the way you have? Shows what an incredible artist and great inspiration you are. Thanks too for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey.

Gorgeous page Alison! I love the "messy" backgrounds you create with the neutrals and whites. And what a wonderful quote too! Big hugs xx (Oh and please don't worry about the amount of entries at SNT, I'm happy to see you're enjoying yourself so much with the neutrals!)

I probably wouldn't pick winter for a wedding (for fear of a blizzard that day-smile), but this page is gorgeous and getting married with the snow coming down would be rather romantic. I love this journal Alison! Hugs-Erika

Well, I am an old romantic and I do love a good wedding! I do love the wintry wedding scene you have created, all the texture just adds to the wonderful scene. I prefer to think that the groom has been startled by the flash gun that they used in those days..... Your page is beautiful! Anne xx

How did I miss this page? (probably having traumas with the building work going on and on and on). I love this page and it is like a happy ending with these two getting married. (Memo to self - must buy these figures as I need a wedding picture)
I just adore the snowy scenes you achieve and those snowflakes are perfect - whose die is that please?
Another huge success.
hugs, Neet xx

Oh Alison this is beautiful!! I am loving the textures I can (almost) feel, and the stenciled stars sprinkled over-head; mixing with the snow. Great 'platform' the blk washi tape makes. I wanted to say that this journal really is a story (it can be anybodys :) and filmstrip is for telling stories - so I think it fits naturally into the pages~ This page is carefree and lovely! And once again I'm going to give the 'benefit of the doubt' and say that the groom is only worried that there is enough gas in the car to get them to Niagara Falls! lol
Thanks for sharing your journey with us~ karen o

Alison, what gorgeous sentiments! This is amazing! I just love the shabby snowy cool look it has -I'm so jealous of your white Christmas, I would love to see one for real! In Australia on the south coast it will be rather hot and humid at the moment. You are very talented! Merry Christmas,
