A sunbeam of the soul

Hello all!  Another quick sample post today from my latest stamp launch at PaperArtsy, and this time we're celebrating the third of the three sets, EAB14 The Happiness Edition.  I don't know about anyone else, but I'm experiencing the world as a fairly troubled, fractious place at the moment, so I wanted to add a little joy to the other side of the scales with this stamp set.

My colour palette for the Happiness edition was one that makes me happy... blues, greens, turquoises and yellows.  Yellow isn't that common around here at Words & Pictures (barring the occasional daisy or two), but I have to confess that it does give a lovely touch of warmth to my much-loved blue/green combination.

This trio of coasters combines some of the Happiness quotes with the glorious bubbly leaves of Courtney Franich's ECF06 set.

The leaves make me happy too, so it seemed like a good combination!

Just like the backgrounds for yesterday's The best thing you can do... tags, these started with some watery brayering.

I put blobs of Summer Sky, Aquamarine, Lawn and Haystack Fresco Finish paints on my craft mat, spritzed well with water, and brayered onto a piece of ivory white cardstock.

Any leftover paint is then available for extra splattering if required!

Once I had cut up the cardstock, I made sure one piece was the other way up, so that the brayered rainbow would be reversed for one coaster.

I applied Olive and Leaf Green Archival inks to the leaves and stamped them at nice jaunty angles.

The quotes themselves are stamped in Olive Archival.

It's one of my all-time favourite stamping colours.

Regulars around here may have noticed I hardly ever stamp in black!

There's a little bit of extra spatter in Cloud 9 (a lovely warm white) with maybe a touch of Cheesecake mixed in.

And I finished things off with some white pen doodled frames before mounting the coasters on some plain white card.  I hope this trio made you happy too... some warm sunshine colours and the last of the green leaves before they start to turn.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I'll be back with that promised autumn tag very soon - and what can I tell you?  If you thought Tree Poetry was a nice autumn tag, just wait until you see this one... it makes me extremely happy!

The purpose of our lives is to be happy.

Yes, the world is in a bad state. I am still reeling from the antisemitic attacks here yesterday. Love your pretty stamps and quotes, and how you have used them. Hugs, Valerie

They make me happy too....

There is yellow and yellow - this is a lovely one and so is the one on the daisy wallflowers. Yellow has within it the propensity to make one happy. My goodness we need a whole lot of it at the moment! xxx

Really glorious little works of art, Alison! I love the colors and the leaves are perfect to pair with your joyful quotes! I'm a little green with envy over your ability to use colorful ink for quotes. I reached for my black archival the other day, thought of you, and switched to color. Stamping sentiments in color didn't seem natural for me, so I reverted to the same old, same old. Maybe some day...

I am SO sorry to be so late visiting. Beside the squirrel problem, I got back online just in time to learn there was going to be a hard freeze tonight. I spent the entire day cutting back my herbs and getting the ones I could lift into the house. The others I covered tonight with sheets. It was something I had to do if I wanted to save all these Mediterranean herbs.

I'm SO glad you shared some happy and positive thoughts and art today. I need it, given the state of the world at the moment that is mostly caused by Trump. I refuse to call him my president, because he's a joke.

I enjoyed the lovely coasters you created. The leaf stamps are adorable, your blues and greens go well with the leaves, and your quotes are perfect. I am truly impressed with what you can come up with and make it all look so new and fresh each time. LOVE it all, dear. Again, sorry I'm late visiting.

Great idea for coasters, I bet the quotes provide talking points when you are having a drinks party! Which reminds me I have a few (coasters, not drinks...) lying about waiting for their transformation before Christmas!!!
