Through a glass... lightly!

Hello everyone!

I'm absolutely thrilled to be here for the PaperArtsy launch of the new Lynne Perrella releases.

You've already seen my Candle Book, created with one of the glorious new stained glass style images, and now there are lots more samples for you.

I'm going to share just a few pictures with you of what I was inspired to create by these wonderful new stamps.

Some of these projects are very detailed - like the images which inspired them, and since I've had to send them away to be samples, the blogposts will be my only record of them.

So I'll be sharing them in more detail over the next few days and weeks, but here's a taster.

(I am aware that's a dodgy promise, as I know I still haven't got around to recording last year's Lynne Perrella creations in detail - ah well!)

I really got into the swing of Leandra's suggestion that we work with brights, thinking of "traditional stained glass window colours"... spurred on of course by the arrival of the new translucent blues.  (You may have already seen me in blue glass action with my Bottles ATC.)

I had the most wonderful time using lots of translucent Fresco paints, all applied with plenty of water to give lots of light and fluidity to the "windows".

(I apologise for the colour in some of these photos - it was one of those apocalyptically overcast days, with occasional sunlight breaking through but in that awful hellish hue that it sometimes takes on.  But postal deadlines meant I had no choice!)

There's a cardboard plaque made with possibly my favourite stamp of the lot.  It's in the LP034 set.

It has lots of metal embellishments, lightly altered with the translucent blues.








I used Red Pepper alcohol ink on some of the gemstones to echo the colours in the "glass".














I'm in love with the details in this image (do click the photo for a larger view)... more another time!











I also created a church window tag (similar to the vellum venture seen here recently) with this LP033 image.

I knew there'd be no light coming from behind this one, as it will almost certainly be mounted on the wall, so I had to create the light with the paint effects.

And the rough textured wall holds her safely in place.








I used a trio of greyboard plaques as the the basis for the next sample - and eventually they ended up mounted on an A4 sized piece of card.

I think the book text within the image behind each of these beauties (LP034) was one of the things which influenced the design of all my samples.  That and all the leftover book pages I'm still using up!










I'm rather pleased with the "glass chips" at the ends of each panel - a coat of glossy accents gives them a really glassy, dimensional look.









The first woman turns up again in a slightly different and slightly smaller version in the LP033 set.  This time she's set in a longer, thinner, even more elegant image frame... perfect for a bookmark.












I mounted her slightly more grandly than that - after all, with a palatial abbey like this on your head you deserve some special attention.








Obviously, with all this stained glass going on, I couldn't resist the clarion call of another candle jar.  Helpfully, this mustard jar is hexagonal - the six flat sides are just demanding to be stamped on.








Some of my favourite shots of this are from the inside out, whether by day or night.












And finally, another plaque, this one again created on greyboard, washed on the white side with the translucent blues to create the background.

The woman is from LPC 0034, and she's layered up over the usual book pages and tea and coffee-stained tissue paper.

She also has some more of the "glass chip" borders to top and tail her... not that she needs any additional adornment with these beautiful details already in place.
