Sad Calico News

Hello all.

Some of you will already have heard the horrible news about the fire at Calico Crafts, and that they have been forced to stop trading.  Several of you were asking about the broken link from my most recent Calico project, but Helen wanted to break the news herself, so this is just to let you know the official announcement is now up in place of the website.

I'm so heart-broken for Helen and Steve.  It must be a devastating loss after all their hard work in creating and building Calico Crafts, a true original in the craft supplies world - with such interesting and inspiring stock, not to mention their wonderful line of Calico Craft Parts.  I do hope they will find some way to re-join the crafting world in the future, but for now my love and thoughts go to them as they work to recover from this awful blow.

So many of my favourite crafty goodies came from Calico, and it was a real joy to be a part of the amazing Calico Design Team.  My thanks go to Helen and Steve, as well as to Zuzu who organised us all so beautifully.

Adieu!  I have too grieved a heart to take a tedious leave.

Oh, that's terrible news. My heart goes out to Calico Crafts. There are too few of these original crafting suppliers. How sad that this should have happened.Julie Ann xxx

This is such sad news and devastating for all of you.
I hope they are able to re-build and to keep hope throughout although at the moment I am sure they can barely comprehend what has happened.

Such sad news. I remember visiting Calico Crafts back before it was online only. I'd not been crafting long and it was like a wonderland. At least no one was hurt. Hope they get back on their feet soon.

How dreadful for such a lovely craft supply company to see so many years hard work gone overnight. I do hope they can rise from the ashes and I'm sure their customers will return in droves.

Terrible news,I remember they were the first online retailer I got craft supplies from and they offered something that little bit different too. Hope they can rebuild it back to the level it was

What a soul destroying thing to happen, making a business work in this day and age is never easy hope that they have the opportunity to relaunch the business and continue their success.
