A token gesture

Hello all, it's catch-up time here at Words and Pictures... a project which was originally shared over at The Artistic Stamper last summer.  I like to get everything "under one roof" when I can, so I'm squeezing in this quick post before the excitement kicks off this coming Friday evening (UPDATE - I got the day wrong - it's Saturday that will be exciting not Friday!!) - so if you commented the last time around, please don't feel you have to again!  Here's what I wrote then...

This is a little gift wallet, which could be used to insert a gift token or some money as a present.

Here's one side...

And the other side, where you can insert the token, voucher or plain old cash!

I started by clear embossing some of the Journalling Words II onto a jumbo tag, and then inked with lots of Distress Inks to create a leathery depth of colour.  I did some watery spritzing and flicking to add extra texture to the background.

I folded the bottom of the tag to create a pocket, and cut it using the Brackets On the Edge die for a fancier look.

I added some stamping using Katy Fox's Carte Postale set, and also created a couple of bits of postal ephemera using the same set, which I clipped on using an Idea-ology hinge clip.

The inside is lined with paper from one of the Tim Holtz paper stashes - forgive me, I've forgotten which now, and I'm not at home to check.  I'm sure one of you will be able to identify it!

And I created two internal tags on which you could write a greeting or clip the token/money to.

The first is simply stamped with the Carte Postale stamps, inked and distressed for an aged look.

The second got the same inky treatment as the outside of the wallet, and then I stamped the fabulous rulers from the Tim Holtz Artful Tools set using Distress Paint.

A couple of Idea-ology mini-clips are there to help out with adding the money/token.

And, of course, no tag (even a gift wallet) would be complete without its topping.

So there's some Distress Stain dyed seam binding to tone in with the tag colours, and tied with twine.

Back in the present day now - thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll take the chance to remind you about the February challenge over at The Artistic Stamper... all you have to do is Use Distress - so shouldn't be too much of a challenge for most of you!!

If I were given the opportunity to present a gift to the next generation, it would be the ability for each individual to learn to laugh at himself.

Can't remember yesterday Alison, let alone last Summer so who know if I commented then.

The little pocket is so effective and great fusion of inks and colours which you do so well.

Sorry I've missed a few posts, not such a good week, but have to mention that beauty below, love it.

This is just such a wonderful way to present a gift card, or, as yu say, CASH!! Love the idea of a tag within a tag! I have found that cards are often tossed aside at some point after the event for which they were sent, but, somehow, not so with tags. People keep them and they often end up being bookmarks or decorations. So well designed, Alison, with lots of yummy attention to detail!! Mwah! KayW
