Hello all and happy June! And a special hello to those of you who signed up to receive email notifications when there's a new post here at Words and Pictures (yes, I know, there haven't been many lately, but that will all change come July at the latest!).
You may have read that Google is discontinuing Feedburner as a tool. Feedburner is what has been in charge of the Blogger Followers gadget, sending out email notifications to those who have signed up and activated their subscription.
So this is just to let you know that if you are a follower by email, you will (hopefully!) continue to receive those notifications, but they will now come courtesy of follow.it.
You shouldn't have to do anything special. When you get an email, you can just click through to visit me here at Words and Pictures, just as you always have done. You, the followers, will also get the chance to alter how you receive your notifications if you want to, which couldn't be done with Feedburner. But that's entirely up to you. If you don't want to change anything you don't have to!
If you follow by Bloglovin', I think everything there should just continue as normal.
And if you'd like to start following by email, you'll find a brand new button to do it in the sidebar. I love that follow.it lets you design your button to match the blog design - Blogger didn't let you do that!
If you are also a blogger, and haven't yet sorted out how your email followers will hear about your posts after July, I would strongly urge you to check out follow.it and get in touch with them.
I can't have all these words without any pictures at all, so here's a little peek at the samples for my new quote stamps at PaperArtsy to cheer up the post!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I'll be back with something properly creative very soon - probably one or two of those samples in more detail. Stay safe, stay well and happy crafting all.

Now I'm more confused than ever. I have read the intro and several pages of follow.it. Now I have to decide which feed will work best for me. Thanks for your lovely tags and your recommendation.
ReplyDeleteAlways exciting to follow you, thank you for the update! I have enjoyed reading about your move, photos from outside your backdoor with seasonal landscapes and of course your new quotes and art! Thank you, Alison ♥️♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteI cannot be doing with followit! If I can't follow you with 'bloglovin' then I will just have to remember to mark your blog and try to catch up at a later date.
ReplyDeleteI just hope they don't start messing with Blogger again . . . . one of the reasons I stopped blogging.
Love your blog and have enjoyed following this and Cestina . . . .
Christine, I get it! Honestly, it's as though Google is working towards winding up Blogger altogether, the way they keep putting barriers in our way. I've been absent for multiple other reasons lately, but I'm certainly having to battle to find the urge to reignite the blog, given all the changes they've been making... and now shutting down how we publicise the blogs too. I hope you'll continue to check in occasionally to see whether I've managed to post anything!!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you.

I’ll try to remember to keep checking in!

I'm just in the process of trying to work out how to port over all my email subscribers to Follow it. I've sent them my list and I just have to see what happens ♥
ReplyDeleteI'll be clicking when I get your notification :)
Google has to do this every so often just to shake up and make a mess. It might actually be better in time, but what a pain when it happens. Loving all your tags too Alison.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer, glad you found an alternative. It's great to hear back from you again. I missed your artwork.

I don't follow blogs by email but as I have the same problem as you with my email followers I will subscribe to test out Follow it solution...
ReplyDeleteI am loving that bundle of gorgeous tags. I'm afraid I've had so many computer problems recently, that I feel the Feedburner one will push me over the edge!! I might have a look at follow it as I haven't seen much advertising of an alternative.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you are getting back into more creating - it sounds like the moving has gone very well.

I think I am ok without it. I check on my blog list to see if you have posted and that is how I come to your blog. Don't think I need 'follow it'. Nice to have you posting. Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
Hhmmm I didn’t get any notice that you had posted this. Will keep fingers crossed things sort out with follow.it and I will get notified of your next post. Love the tags and look forward to seeing them close up. Hope you are well as I’ve just seen there was a tornado in the Czech Republic. Hopefully not by you. Warm hugs, Nan
ReplyDeleteJust seen, on the news, about the tornado hitting the Czech Republic. Are you ok? Please put a post up and let us know Alison.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
I'm fine!! We have had some pretty scary storms in the last few days here in South Bohemia, but thankfully we're well west of the apocalyptic tornado's path through Moravia. Fingers crossed the weather is settling again now - we've glorious sunshine this evening at least!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much to Neet and Nan for checking in with me... and to anyone else who was worrying.
There will be more Words and Pictures posts coming very soon in July, but right now I'm still under a pile of recording deadlines/unpacking and sorting/lots of gardening needing attention, so I'm still struggling to get on the blog much. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Thank you, that was so helpful! I followed your link and installed the new follow.it widget. It was so easy. And customizing it was a breeze.
ReplyDeleteI loved each and ever sample and the new stamps so very much! What a plethora of inspiration piled up in this photo! xx, Autumn
