Masked Specimens
Hello all, I hope you had a lovely weekend. After all that (water)colour, we're headed into the neutral zone today. It's only a sneak peek here at Words and Pictures, so I shan't keep you here long.
I'm over at the PaperArtsy blog this evening with some inspiration for this fortnight's Masking theme.
I've created a sort of three dimensional naturalist's journal, recording the details of various specimens of flora and fauna.
I hope you'll be able to hop over and find out what I used to do my masking (given that I avoid fussy-cutting masks if I possibly can!), and that you enjoy what you find there.
Study nature, not books.

Blinkin' gorgeous! Ah I so share your 'ought to thinking' and great to see it's not just me that ends up with several versions before I am happy with something! You never disappoint though:) xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your fabulous box - just goes to show that it is best to go with you instincts! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeletelove it (and some of the other colourways too!) but I agree, stick with your instincts.
ReplyDeleteAllison,
ReplyDeleteI love this box, I'm a vintage person myself and this is just spectacular. Thanks for sharing. I may have to invest in some of that masking fluid because I fussy cut everything.
Just hopped over Alison and it is a wonderful piece.and so good that you stayed to true to yourself.
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie xx

Just saw and commented at PA. This is so beautiful. I love the detail and the 'pops' of white. xx
ReplyDeleteJust popped over to have a look Alison and such a fabulous project. A great use of all those wonderful stamps. Sorry for not having been around for a while and hope everything is ok with you. I am trying to get back on track with blogging so will be keeping up with your work more often!

Gorgeous Alison! I had to come over to see closer...
ReplyDeleteNot a specialist in anyway but the other difference between watercolour and standard cardstock is that the former has a coating (the "size") and it might be also this that protects from the fluid. Also worth remembering that as papers are all different, and the masking fluids are all different you might get a tear with one combination and not another, so a test might be useful...
Just went to have a look! This looks amazing, love it.
ReplyDeletewaue love your dimensional naturalist's journal, would like to see more of it ;O))
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful, off to have a closer look! Anne xx

I popped over to PA to have a closer look and to read about your different takes on this project, and I can say from my vantage point that your instincts have proved right! Lovely piece in the end! I'm sure I have some masking fluid around here somewhere, and you have inspired me to try this method of masking, sans the pen, of course! Thank you, again, for your amazing inspiration! Hugs!
