Doll Exhibition at Calico Craft Parts

Hello all and happy Leap Day!  as promised, I've got something new for you for the extra day of the year.  I've got a new project to share with you over at Calico Craft Parts - my last one before I break for a sabbatical which will allow me to carry on with my work travels with a little less pressure (thank you, Zuzu!).  So it's your last chance for several months to catch me playing with the Calico Craft Parts.

After my recent floral extravaganza for Calico, I'm back on the flowers again, but this time accompanying an exhibit of dolls of one kind or another.  I hope you'll hop over there to see what's on display as Exhibit A.  Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope as I head to Hong Kong that internet access should become altogether easier.  Certainly my timetable will ease up a little bit soon.  I may even be round for some visiting, though I don't recommend holding your breath!

I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.

  1. This is such a special make, not only for its beauty, but also for its message. I love looking at everyone's beautiful makes, and at the same time I believe we can do more to reflect on current events and where the world appears to be headed. No doubt, I am influenced by the rise of a bombastic conservative candidate here in the States that alarms me no end. Nonetheless, I think we should speak out as best we can to our community, as you have so often done in the past. Thank you for doing so, Butterfly. It is a lesson we can all learn from. xxx Lynn

  2. Sad to see your last piece for Calico for a while, but totally understand you need to stand back while real life is so hectic!

  3. Mmmm exhibit A can be a scary place even though it looks to be beautiful but in this world of strong minded, open hearted and very caring women I am sure there is a happy ending.
Hope your travels are going well and are excitingly enjoyable.

  5. Wonderful piece of work Alison with a great message! I left a comment at Calico, but I also would like to say how much I agree with Lynn Price above. Your work so often speaks to the viewer in subtle ways and makes us stop for a moment to think about the world in which we live. xx

  7. Goodness gracious Alison - knowing a little of your background story, this fits right into your world of minis and fine literature. I must admit that Shakespeare is not my cup of tea for fun reading. But I do love Victoria novels especially the Anne Perry mysteries. Light and fun!
Now your make is not for light weights as you delve into your world of symbolism but it is also so stunningly beautiful that why not just enjoy the vignette for the beauty alone!
Bravo and safe travel - be sure and take lots of pictures.
