It's a double-hopping day here at Words and Pictures... and we're still slightly spooked out. (If you missed my Haunted House Spooktacular, I'd love it if you had time to check it out.) We've moved away from those traditional Halloween colours (the full-on green, orange, purple with all the attendant bits and bobs is great fun, but not truly scary as far as I'm concerned) to something a little more vintage and, to my mind, a little more unnerving.
So at A Vintage Journey, for my Destination Inspiration creation, you can see an ATB candle holder - a little room inspired by the Victorian obsession with death, the rituals and icons and symbols surrounding it.
It's a little unsettling - with strange currents below the surface - but it's also rather lovely (though I do say so myself) so I hope you can hop over to see more.
And at Calico Craft Parts, we're tapping in to the original 1922 vampire film, Nosferatu - Max Schreck as Count Orlok, still the creepiest, most truly spine-tingling vampire ever committed to celluloid.
After the Scooby Doo scariness of the Spooky Shrine this one comes with a genuine health warning but I hope you'll be brave enough to hop over to Calico Craft Parts to see it.
I hope you'll enjoy the haunting experiences coming your way...
Oh, and the winners of the Ally Pally tickets were Kirsten and Laura (since Lin and Julie Ann had won elsewhere they were happy to take their names out of the hat, and these were the two left over!). I took the liberty of contacting them right away yesterday, so that I could get the tickets in the post today. Many thanks to PaperArtsy for sponsoring the tickets. I hope I'll be seeing some of you at Ally Pally on Saturday. If you want to see what I'll be up to at the PaperArtsy demo table (12.15 - 2pm) you can see some sneak peeks here.
By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
From Macbeth by William Shakespeare
If you don't mind hopping to see the full project I'd love to enter my Victorian candle shrine in the Anything Goes with Autumn Colours at Mixed Media World.
And - again if you don't mind hopping over to A Vintage Journey - since stamping with clear-embossing and wrinkle-free distress are two of my favourite go-to techniques, I'd also like to enter the Victorian candle shrine in Love This Technique at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.
Saw your fabulous Victorian ATB votive holder at AVJ Alison, it is wonderful! Off to check out your Nosferatu inspired creation at Calico, just knowing that creepy count is featured has me scared already! Deb xo
ReplyDeleteLike the idea of a vintage slant on Halloween Alison. Taken several looks at that crackled background, why is it mine never crack quite as well I wonder, could it be the depth of medium used.
