A twist of lime...

Hello everyone, Alison here with a change from my usual look!  Sometimes it's fun to just let rip a bit! And many of you are celebrating, aren't you?
Happy 4th July!

And I'm celebrating - because, thanks to the lovely Annie of Curious and Crafty Treasures, I'm one of the lucky ones who gets to go to Tim's workshop here in August.

We did a deal to both be on the phones, but thanks to my dodgy signal (on the train en route to Stratford upon Avon) I had to call it a day before she did; but her persistence paid off - whoop, whoop! - so it seems like it's time for some colour.

I used Distress Inks and Stains in some, for me, unusually bright colours to create the background, and used my favourite (I think) stencil to add some more layered colour.

Then I layered up stamps from the Whimsical Melange plate, stamped in Distress Paint, to build up texture.

The grid is stamped in Picket Fence Distress Paint, and the circles are in a combination of Broken China and Peeled Paint, blended onto the stamp.

The real centrepiece is the fabulous sentiment from the Typography plate - embossed for glossy dimensionality so that it pops against that vivid background.

I added some tissue tape, and a bottle top that came in a job lot of Idea-ology bits and pieces, and has been waiting for a day when I was feeling colourful.

I also used Distress Paints to alter the Idea-ology cogs and add contrasting colours to the tag.

I gave them a coat of clear embossing powder after the paint, and love the glossy dimensionality this gives them.

There's more of the blue-green end of the spectrum from the dyed crinkle ribbon at the top.

Can't believe I didn't notice the trinket pin was the wrong way round when I was taking the pictures - tsk!

Ah, look... here it is!

So, I hope you like this hop out of kin creation - I certainly had fun making it - think I probably need to keep adding colour into my life and crafting... it can give you such a lift.

Thanks so much for stopping by... and I hope you'll be able to play along with the brand new Artistic Outpost Referral Program this month.  Use at least one AO image to enter, and you'll be entered in the prize draw at the end of July.

Happy Crafting!

Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways.

  34. Hi Allison - thanks for stopping by my blog today. I loved your post today - I actually read it earlier this morning - my morning routine involves coffee and the daily blog news. I was going to comment on the Lime Soda Bottlecap because it is the exact shade of lime green sweater I wore yesterday, but I got distracted and then didnt. Beyond the really cool bottle cap, I loved the whole tag - these colours together are gorgeous. I loved the glossy gears too. Dont worry too much about watching the soldering video, on review I realise that it is out of focus because it is shot off an old webcam and it doesnt really say or give any real information about anything other than the fact that I soldered for the first time.
