Hedgerow Tag II
Hi all, and welcome, and an especially big welcome to the new followers - thank you so much for joining the gang!
I suddenly realised it's been quite a long time since Hedgerow Tag I (which I'm excited to say is being featured at the moment on The Crafter's Workshop blog - if you've time to pop over and leave a comment I'd be thrilled) so if I didn't get this one posted soon, none of the titles would really make any sense at all.
So here we are with another eclectic Paperie post - as usual, you'll find links to all the products used at the foot of the post - and I'm going to have another go at tempting you into the glorious Unity stamps by Donna Downey.
To be honest, I'm not really about the hard sell; it's just that I find these stamps irresistible, and they've been the inspiration for a number of projects which then land up here!
So today we've moved from the burnished golds of the last tag to much gentler spring greens (no, not the vegetables).
It's really a very simple tag - almost everything is done with paint!
The background was brushed on in layers of colour to build up depth and texture.
The Wayward Flowers and the Delicate Blooms were stamped in paint over the top.
And the sentiment, taken from Donna Downey's Art and Possibility set, was stamped in varying paint colours (including white) around the tag for added texture, with one main focal stamping in dark green.
Then - amazingly - some not-paint! I used the Inkssentials white gel pen to highlight the tips of the flowers (no surprises there, if you're a regular follower, as you'll remember this little book where I did the same thing - I told you I'd been using these stamps a lot!).
I distressed the edges of the tag with the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser. But, for once, rather than ink them up for definition I left them au naturel.
I also went for a natural look with my topping... some raffia tied up with some more raffia. It felt as though such a simple tag needed a simple finish.
Landscapes have a language of their own, expressing the soul of the things, lofty or humble, which constitute them, from the mighty peaks to the smallest of the tiny flowers hidden in the meadow's grass.
